The Tank Storage Association is the trade association representing the interests of companies engaged in the storage of bulk liquids and the provision of products and services to the sector. Our members provide and support an essential interface between sea, road, rail and pipeline logistics for a diverse range of essential products, including transport and heating fuels, chemicals, animal feed and foodstuffs. An oil terminal, which may also be referred to as a tank farm, tankfarm, oil installation, or oil depot, serves as an industrial facility designed for the storage of oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products. From this facility, these products are distributed to end users or transferred to other storage locations. Typically, an oil terminal features a range of above-ground or below-ground tanks, inter-tank transfer facilities, pumping systems, loading gantries for filling road tankers or barges, equipment for loading and unloading ships at marine terminals, and pipeline connections

Facilities In the majority of oil terminals, there is no processing or transformation of products conducted on the premises. The products from a refinery that are stored at the terminal are in their final state, ready for delivery to clients. While blending of products may occur and additives can be introduced into the products, a manufacturing facility is typically absent on site. Contemporary terminals exhibit a significant level of site automation.
